Debenhams announced today (Monday 13th June, 2011) that it would be saving millions of people the trouble of going abroad to grab a duty free beauty bargain by knocking the VAT off over 300 top name cosmetics, skincare and fragrance lines in store, online and via phone apps right up to 31st July 2011.
 
The innovative move means that that Debenhams, which commands over 28 per cent of the premium beauty market, will be 20 per cent cheaper than its rivals. 
 
Sara Stern, Director of Beauty at Debenhams said: “Whether customers are holidaying abroad or staycationing this year, we wanted to give everyone a kick start to summer.
 
“Our duty free cuts across a fabulous range of the nation’s favourite beauty products have done exactly that, saving shoppers money on everyday essentials and top name treats”.
 
The move follows hot on the heels of the Debenhams Half Price sale which started on Thursday 9th June, 2011 and falls against a continuing backdrop of food inflation at a two year high and a 19 per cent rise in gas bills.
 
Top cosmetic houses such as Estee Lauder, Lancôme, YSL, Clinique, Clarins, Elemis, Guerlain, Elizabeth Arden, Benefit and Marc Jacobs, to name but a few, are all included.

Extra benefits can be gained with the Debenhams Beauty Club Reward Card.  Once the card is activated online, customers will earn one point per £1 on beauty purchases under £25, and three points per £1 when spending more than £25. Every 500 points collected earn a £5 reward to spend in the Beauty Hall. Reward pounds can be used as part payment and there is no minimum spend, meaning extra money off those VAT free must haves.
